St Mary’s – 2 fem Wigeon, pair of Teal, 2 Coot and new in, 1st winter male Pochard at Porth Hellick. Siberian Chiffchaff, 2 Firecrest , 2 Woodcock. a fresh Comma at Trenowth

In The Roads, a single Black-throated and 5 Great Northern Diver. Bar Point, St Mary’s – 6 Whimbrel roosting with 9 Bar-tailed Godwits.

Sunday 27th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’s – Porth Hellick: 2 fem Wigeon, pair of Teal and 5 Coot. 4 Canada Geese 1 Siberian Chiffchaff. on the airfield-44 Golden Plover, including a single almost in summer plumage. Lower Moors: 12 Meadow Pipit, 9 Curlew and 5 Snipe.The Buzzard was over Carn Vean. A 1st winter male Black Redstart, 1 Grey and 6 Pied Wagtail at Little Porth.

Sunday 20th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’s – Seen from Bar Point- drake Long-tailed Duck, adult Black-throated Diver, 7 imm/fem Common Scoter, 2 Slavonian Grebe and the 3rd winter Yellow-legged Gull.

At Carn Moval a male and female Merlin. Up to 8 Little Egret and 9 Great northern Diver. 3 Whimbrel and 29 Bar-tailed Godwit were at Bar Point.

Saturday 19th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’s – off Star Castle: Black-throated Diver and 14 Great Northern Diver. From Innisidgen. 2 Slavonian Grebe and 11 Great Northern Diver. Plus 1 Black-necked Grebe and a RED-NECKED GREBE.

Friday 18th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – 2 Razorbills & 15 Great Northern Divers on the sea, seen from Star Castle, a first-winter Glaucous Gull briefly in Porthcressa and 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls at Porth Mellon, 1 was also seen at Porthloo.

Thursday 17th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St. Mary’s – A Blackcap singing near Star Castle and looking over the sea from there – a Black-throated Diver & 18 Great Northern Divers. A visit to the Porth Hellick/Salakee area at dusk produced a Firecrest & a Short-eared Owl.

Monday 14th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’sShort-eared Owl, Wigeon, Teal (pr) at Porth Hellick. Common Scoter, Razorbill (5) and GN Diver (12) on the sea from Star Castle.

Sunday 13th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’sLong-eared Owl, ‘Siberian’ Chiffchaff, Goldcrest (6), Woodcock (6), Snipe (15) and Redwing (50+) at Lower Moors. Also Whimbrel (4) and Curlew (20) at Bar Point

St Agnes - ‘Siberian’ Chiffchaff (2) and Goldcrest (5) roosting in the Old Observatory Garden each night.

Saturday 12th February 2011 IoS Bird Reports

St Mary’sBrent Goose (6 dark-bellied) off Bar Point. Also  Whimbrel (8) and Bar-tailed Godwit.

TrescoPink-footed Goose (4), Brent Goose (2 pale bellied), Short-eared Owl, Long-tailed Tit (4) and Little Grebe on the island today
