Tuesday 31st October 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

Tuesday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Pallas’s Warbler was at Porth Hellick ringing station, a Yellow-browed Warbler was also trapped, ringed and released. The Water Pipit was still on Porth Hellick Beach and nearby, 4 Firecrests, 6 Yellow-browed Warblers & a Siberian Chiffchaff were in between Porth Hellick Pool and the road and 3 Hawfinches flew over. Another Yellow-browed Warbler was n Higher Moors, 2 were at Newford Duck Pond and 1 was in the Dump Clump. The Red-breasted Flycatcher was still at Rosehill, the Olive-backed Pipit was seen again in the Standing Stones Field, lower Moors before flying off towards Old Town Churchyard. A Radde’s Warbler was found at Borough Farm mid-afternoon. A Little bunting flew over Longstone and a Yellow-browed Warbler, 2 Firecrests, a Black Redstart & a Hawfinch were in Carreg Dhu Gardens. The Hawfinch was still at Airport Lane and 2 flew over Porthcressa. A Richard’s Pipit flew over Peninnis and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was at Trenoweth.
The putative Wilson’s Snipe was still on Porth Hellick Pool.

Tresco –  A Jack Snipe, the 2 Spoonbills were still on Green Island and the Surf Scoter was still of the south end of Tresco near Green Island.

St. Agnes – An Eastern Stonechat species was at Tamarisk Farm and also seen on the island were a Yellow-browed Warbler & a Hawfinch.
