Tuesday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – 16 Sanderlings were on Porthloo Beach and a Turnstone was by Hugh Town Quay.
St. Agnes – 15 Sanderlings.
Gugh – A Common Sandpiper and 2 Turnstones.
Annet – 50+ Puffins.
Wednesday’s birds were:
Annet – 60+ Puffins.
Thursday’s birds were:
Tresco – 14 Whimbrels, 10+ Sanderlings and 5 Dunlins.
Samson – 5 Dunlins.
Inter-island waters – 3 Mediterranean Gulls, 10+ Common Terns and 20 Sandwich Terns were in Tresco Channel. A European Storm-petrel was just north of Tresco.
St. Mary’s –Typically for late July there are noticeable numbers of Sandwich Terns with the 20 mentioned above and another 20 on Porthcressa Bay.
At sea – The short-range pelagic trip in the evening produced 80+ European Storm-petrels. 2 Cory’s and 15+ Great Shearwaters. 30+ Common Dolphins were also seen.
Friday’s birds were:
St. Agnes – A Whimbrel and a Whinchat, the first since spring.
Tresco – 3 Mediterranean Gulls.
Annet – 5 Puffins.
Northern Rocks – A Turnstone, a Whimbrel and 4 Puffins.
Saturday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – A juvenile Cuckoo was being fed by Rock Pipits on Porth Hellick Down and a Common Swift was over Higher Moors.
Bryher – A Hooded Crow.
Annet – 12+Puffins.
Sunday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The juvenile Cuckoo was still being fed by Rock Pipits on Porth Hellick Down and a Green Sandpiper and 6 Greenshanks were at Porth Hellick Pool.
Tresco – 7 Turnstones, 16 Whimbrels and a Dunlin.
Samson – 2 Dunlins.
Inter-island waters – 5 Mediterranean Gulls were in Tresco Channel.
Monday’s birds were:
At sea – A Wilson’s Storm-petrel, 150+ European Storm-petrels, 11 Great & 5 Cory’s Shearwaters, a Long-tailed Skua and 2 Great Skuas were seen on the short-range pelagic trip in the evening.
