The bird log has now started at The Scillonian club each night, so the daily update will now be in list form throughout October. Highlights from Saturdays log included:

Balearic Shearwater – 10 past Peninnis.

Spoonbill – 1 Tresco.

Jack Snipe – 1 Lower Moors and 1 Tresco.

Common Sandpiper – 1 Old Town.

Green Sandpiper – 1 St. Martin’s.

Great Skua – 4 past Peninnis.

Mediterranean Gull – 2 Porthcressa and 1 off the Garrison.

Yellow Wagtail – 1 Sandy Lane and 1 Porthcressa.

Common Redstart – 1 Trewince.

Whinchat – 1 Higher Moors, 2 Lower Moors and 1 Bryher.

Lesser Whitethroat – 1 Porth Hellick.

Common Whitethroat – 1 Green Farm, 1 Watermill and 1 Bryher.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 Newford Duck Pond and 1 Jac-a-ba.

Firecrest – 2 Carreg Dhu Gardens, 2 Porth Hellick House, 2 Porth Hellick, 1 Holy Vale and 1 Sunnyside.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 Watermill, 1 Bryher and 1 St. Martin’s.

Hooded Crow – 1 Bryher.

Raven – 3 Watermill.

Snow Bunting – 1 Peninnis.
