Saturdays Birds were:
St. Mary’s – 3 Little Stints, a Jack Snipe, 9 Common Snipe and 6 Greenshanks were on Porth Hellick Pool and the American Golden Plover was on Porth Hellick Beach. 2 Common Snipe, a Greenshank, 2 Kingfishers and a Wryneck were seen from the ISBG hide in Lower Moors. 4 Dunlins and 3 Bar-tailed Godwits were on Porthloo Beach.
St. Agnes – A Wryneck and a Turtle Dove.
Tresco – A Whimbrel, a Yellow-legged Gull and a Merlin.
Bryher- A Yellow Wagtail and a Common Redstart.
At sea – A Balearic Shearwater and a Sabine’s Gull were seen from the Scillonian III on the return crossing from St. Mary’s to Penzance.
Sunday’s birds were:
St. Mary’s – The American Golden Plover was still on Porth Hellick Beach and on the pool were 3 Little Stints. A Wood Warbler was at Newford duck Pond and another was in sallows on the Carn Friars Lane opposite the path to Porth Hellick. A Wryneck was in Lower Moors and an Icterine Warbler was at the top of Watermill. 2 Pied Flycatchers were in Old Town Churchyard and another was on Peninnis.3 Spotted Flycatchers were in Old Town Churchyard and 3 were on the Garrison. 3 Bar-tailed Godwits were on Porthloo Beach.
St. Agnes – A Red-eyed Vireo was in a bush on the coastal path at the bottom of Covean in the morning and it or another was seen briefly several times along hedges between the Big Pool and the old observatory garden. A Bee-eater was seen at various locations around the island. Also on the island were a Turtle Dove, a Whinchat and a Spotted Flycatcher.
Gugh – A Wryneck.
Bryher – 2 Bee-eaters flew over the tennis courts and elsewhere in the island were a Curlew Sandpiper and a Ring Ouzel.
Tresco – 2 Bee-eaters (probably the Bryher birds) were at Borough Farm. Also seen on the island were 20 Greenshanks. 3 Redshanks. 5 Whimbrels, a Wood Sandpiper, a Pochard, a Tufted Duck, a Wigeon, a Pintail, a Pied Flycatcher, a Spotted Flycatcher and a Yellow-browed Warbler.
