Saturday 21st October 2017 IoS Bird Sightings

After a very windy day not a lot was called at the log, the highlights were:

Wilson’s Snipe – The bird thought to be a possible candidate for this species was still on Port Hellick Pool.

Siberian Oystercatcher – Again another putative bird of this subspecies was on Porthloo Beach.

American Golden Plover – 1 still on Porth Hellick Beach.

Hawfinch – 1 Green Lane.

Yellow-browed Warbler – 1 Newford Duck Pond, 1 Holy Vale and 1 on St. Agnes.

Siberian Chiffchaff  1 Higher Moors.

Firecrest – 6 on St. Mary’s.

Leach’s Storm-Petrel  – 3 in the Roads.

Snow Bunting – 1 Deep Point.

Pale-bellied Brent Goose – 2 Porthloo.

Great Northern Diver – 1 of Toll’s Island.

Whimbrel – 1 Porth Hellick Beach.

Great Skua – 1 past Peninnis and 1 flew over Higher Moors.

Mediterranean Gull – 3 Porthcressa and 2 Porthloo.

Short-eared Owl – 1 on St. Agnes.

Merlin –  1 Giant’s Castle, 1 Porthcressa and 1 flew from Old Town towards Peninnis.

Common Whitethroat  1 Porthloo Lane.

Spotted Flycatcher – 1 at Salakee and 1 on the Tremelethen Trail.

Pied Flycatcher – 1 Little Porth and 1 Lower Broome.

Black Redstart – 3 on St. Mary’s and 2 on St. Agnes.

Siskin – 4 Holy Vale and 1 Peninnis.
