Friday 27th – Tuesday 31st December 2013 IoS Bird Sightings

Friday 27th birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Rose-coloured Starling was still in the allotments opposite the incinerator, a Yellow-browed Warbler was in Lower Moors, a Black Redstart was on the quay and a Little Gull was off Watermill. 8 Great Northern Divers were in The Roads.

Samson – 2 Spoonbills were on Samson Flats.

Saturday 28th birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Rose-coloured Starling was still in the allotments opposite the incinerator, a Yellow-browed Warbler and a Siberian Chiffchaff were in Lower Moors and a Balearic Shearwater was off Innisidgen.

St. Martin’s – A Slavonian Grebe was off Higher Town Quay.

Sunday 29th birds were:

St. Mary’s – 2 Greenland White-fronted Geese were on Porth Hellick Pool.

Tresco – A Long-tailed Duck and a Scaup were on Abbey Pool.

St. Agnes – A first-winter Iceland Gull.

Samson – The 2 Spoonbills were on Green Island.

Inter-island waters – A Great Northern Diver was in Tresco Channel and 5 Great Northern Divers were between Tresco and St. Martin’s.

Monday 30th birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Rose-coloured Starling was still in the allotments opposite the incinerator, a juvenile Iceland Gull was in Porthcressa Bay in the morning and it or another was at Bant’s Carn in the afternoon. 12 Balearic Shearwaters and 6 Great Northern Divers were seen off Innisidgen.

Tuesday 31st birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Rose-coloured Starling was still in the allotments opposite the incinerator
