Friday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – A Spotted Crake was on Lower Moors Pool early morning, also there were 4 Green Sandpipers & a Greenshank and a Hobby flew over. Nearby the Wryneck showed occasionally on the path and wires beside the Standing Stones Field. Another Wryneck was on the Garrison, behind the campsite and the 2 juvenile Pectoral Sandpipers were still on Porth Hellick Pool.

St. Martin’s – A Common Swift, a Tree Pipit and 3 White Wagtails.

Inter-island waters – A Mediterranean Gull was in Tresco Chanel.

At sea – 4 European Storm-petrels, a Great, 3 Cory’s and 19 Sooty Shearwaters were seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

Birds seen on the evening Birders’ special pelagic trip included; a Wilson’s-storm-petrel, 20 European Storm-petrels, 8 Sabine’s Gulls, 4 Great Skuas, 6 Cory’s, 4 Great and 18 Sooty Shearwaters.

Saturday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The 2 juvenile Pectoral Sandpipers were still on Porth Hellick Pool and an adult Night Heron was found there in the evening. A Dotterel flew over the Garrison early morning and an Osprey flew over there late afternoon, a Pied Flycatcher was also on the Garrison. A Hoopoe was at Green Farm in the morning.

Gugh – A Wryneck.

Bryher – 7 Spotted Flycatchers, a Pied Flycatcher, a Cuckoo, a Tree Pipit, 12 Northern Wheatears and a Garden Warbler.

At sea – 20 European Storm-petrels, a Cory’s, 6 Great, 30+ Sooty Shearwaters, a Pomarine Skua,adult Long-tailed Skua and a juvenile Sabine’s Gull were seen from the Scillonian III on the return trip from St. Mary’s to Penzance.

The daytime Birders’ Special pelagic trip produced 10 Cory’s, 3 Great, a Balearic & 4 Sooty Shearwaters, 20 European Storm-petrels, an Arctic & Black Tern, a Porbeagle Shark, 2 Blue Sharks and 2 Ocean Sunfish.
