Friday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – 13 Teal, 2 Jack Snipe, 3 Firecrests, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers & a Siberian Chiffchaff were at Porth Hellick and 3 Firecrests & a Yellow-browed Warbler were in Holy Vale. A first-winter drake Scaup, 3 Siberian Chiffchaffs & 4 Firecrests were at Lower Moors and another Firecrest was at Newford. 7 Black Redstarts were on Porthcressa Beach and 6 were on Porthloo Beach
Saturday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – When pictures were examined it was suspected that the bird reported yesterday as a Scaup was actually a Lesser Scaup. Also in Lower Moors were a Siberian Chiffchaff, 2 Firecrests and 2 Grey Wagtails. Another Siberian Chiffchaff, a Yellow-browed Warbler & 4 Firecrests were at Porth Hellick and nearby 4 Woodcocks, a Yellow-browed Warbler & 2 Firecrests were in Holy Vale. A Whimbrel & 2 Brambling were at Watermill and 5 Black Redstarts were on Porthcressa Beach.

Sunday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Lesser Scaup was on Porth Hellick and when flew off to Lower Moors pictures of the upperwing & underwing were perfect for Lesser Scaup. There were also 3 Firecrests, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers and a Siberian Chiffchaff in Lower Moors.

Monday’s birds were:

St. Mary’s – The Lesser Scaup was still in Lower Moors & 2 Reed Buntings were also there. A Firecrest was caught & ringed at Porth Hellick.

Tresco – 2 St. Mary’s based birders managed to get to Tresco and saw 2 Little Grebes, 16 Wigeons, a female Shoveler, a male Merlin, 2 Mediterranean Gulls, a Black Redstart, 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, 2 Firecrests, 2 Bramblings and 5 Reed Buntings.

Tuesday’s birds were:

St Martin’s – A second-winter LAUGHING GULL was present at Great Bay and Middle Town Beach

St. Mary’s – A Yellow-browed Warbler was in Lower Moors and a Black Redstart was on Old Town Beach.
